Textual Analysis: 100

On YouTube there is a channel that brings in 100 people and ask them questions, tells them to do activities or to watch their reaction to something that would happen. I want to analyse these clips a little more as I like the modern twist of placing one in front of a camera answering questions that may be seen as controversial. In fact Channel 5 commissions are looking for a 10pm slot that consist of a controversial documentary.

Duration of each clip: 3-5 mins

Characters: 100 public members between 18-35, of all genders and ethnicity

Location: Studio-based

Style/Form: Plain background, and each character is placed centre

Edit: changes in between people, the question is asked once at the start and in between 10/15 people. Some characters have more air time, and some are seen more than once. You can also hear the interviewers/crews laughs and voices behind the camera with subtitles.

Analysis:

"100 People Tell us what they have stolen" - in this episode the interviewer asks the question and allows the 100 people to answer how they wan and how much they wanted to explain on the answer. There is a low volume music playing in the background that pays through out and stops on certain questions that seemed too outrageous.

"100 People Tell Us the Worst Thing They've Ever Done"- In this episode the theme is the same as all the other episodes. However by watching these two episodes I can understand the genre of the Channel.

I like the idea that the subjects get to react how they want on camera. This show best fits with what I want to do as the questions that are being asked falls in the category of controversary. It also uses the audiences that would be watching so it is relatable to those that are watching.
